The ideal location for a speed trap is about half a mile from an intersection on a downhill section of road. Just about the time you have accelerated to a safe speed near the speed limit, the slope of the road starts to carry you along faster. Right about here they set the trap by dropping the speed limit from say 45 to 35. Just around the corner they wait with their radar to spring the trap. They just clocked you at 48 in a 35. Sound familiar? It certainly does to me. I got a ticket just like this while driving in Virginia. For them it’s like shooting fish in a barrel, but it’s not legal.
